Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati is a prestigious national-level examination that serves as a critical gateway for engineering graduates. It holds strategic importance for candidates seeking admission to postgraduate programs (Masterโs and Doctoral) with financial assistance from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and other government agencies. Furthermore, GATE scores are used for recruitment by numerous prestigious Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), including Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), among others.
The GATE 2026 examination is being organized by the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, while the administration of the test is jointly handled by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and all 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on behalf of the National Coordination Board. This computer-based test (CBT) is a comprehensive assessment of a candidateโs understanding of undergraduate subjects in engineering, technology, science, architecture, and humanities.
